Louis Vuitton Becomes First Company to Utilize Dubai’s ‘One Freezone Passport’ Initiative

Dubai Free Zones Council (DFZC) has officially launched the One Freezone Passport, a pioneering initiative that simplifies business operations between Mainland and Freezone in Dubai.

Dubai’s ‘One Freezone Passport’ Initiative

The Dubai Free Zones Council (DFZC) has officially launched the One Freezone Passport, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at streamlining business operations across the emirate’s numerous free zones. In a landmark move, Louis Vuitton has become the first company to benefit from the initiative, as announced by the Dubai World Trade Centre Authority (DWTCA).

The One Freezone Passport enables businesses licensed in one Dubai free zone to operate in others without needing a separate license, reducing duplication, time, and costs. This reflects the emirate’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and creating a seamless experience for international companies looking to expand across Dubai.

“This initiative is a powerful step towards unifying business frameworks and empowering global brands to scale faster within Dubai,” said a DFZC spokesperson. “Louis Vuitton’s adoption of this system is a clear vote of confidence in Dubai’s vision for ease of doing business.”

How to Set Up a Free Zone Business in Dubai

Setting up a business in one of Dubai’s free zones typically involves:

  • Choose a Free Zone based on your industry (e.g., Dubai Airport Freezone, Dubai Silicon Oasis, JAFZA).
  • Select Your Business Activity from the free zone’s approved list.
  • Choose a Company Name that complies with UAE naming regulations.
  • Submit Your Application along with a business plan, passport copies, and other required documents.
  • Lease Office Space within the free zone (varies based on license type).
  • Receive Your Business License and establish your bank account.

Many free zones offer online portals to streamline this process, with support available for startups, SMEs, and large corporations.

How to Apply for the One Freezone Passport

To benefit from the One Freezone Passport, businesses must:

  • Hold a valid license from a participating Dubai free zone.
  • Apply through their home free zone authority, requesting One Freezone Passport approval.
  • The request is then coordinated with the DFZC and host free zone(s).
  • Once approved, the business can legally operate or expand into the new zone without duplicating licensing procedures.

More details and application support can be accessed through the official DFZC website or the licensing department of any participating free zone.
